The Valtenesi area by bike

A biking itinerary with the whole family, without hills or excessively difficult routes. Starting from the Camping Village La Gardiola, climb on the hills of the Valtenesi area in the direction of Puegnago and Sovenigo Lakes, small lakes immersed in nature where lotus flowers bloom. Walk along the paths of the hinterland through vineyards and cultivated fields to reach Polpenazze del Garda, whose historic centre is dominated by the medieval castle. Continue on the main road opening out towards the wonderful view of Lake Garda in certain points, and reach Soiano del Lago, a village whose history dates back to the Bronze Age. The main point of interest is the Castle on the ruins of the Roman period, dominating Valtenesi from a hill. There are various events and concerts inside the castle in summer. The last phase of the itinerary at the southern end of the Valtenesi region is Padenghe. The medieval castle, erected around the year 1000, almost entirely retains its original structure and is considered the most ancient of the Valtenesi region. The eighteenth-century Palazzo Barbieri is located in the centre of Padenghe with marvellous columns supporting the atrium’s cross vaults, now housing the town hall. Every year in August, the historical parade re-enactment “Medieval Padenghe” is performed with costumes, flag-wavers, falconers, street artists, jugglers, waders and local specialities.
